Scalloping
Explore Florida's Anclote Key
What do you get when you cross a treasure hunt, underwater adventure and the ultimate foodie experience? Scalloping!

“Seafood doesn’t get any fresher than when it’s pulled straight from the saltwater.”
The west coast of Florida is known for its abundance in bay scallops, and seafood doesn’t get any fresher than when it’s pulled straight from the saltwater. This family-friendly activity makes for a fun day in the sun, so grab your snorkel gear and get out into the open water to experience a coastal tradition that ends in succulent scallops enjoyed at your dinner table.
Scalloping season begins in July and runs for 10 days, and the best way to make the most of this short season is by going with a local fishing charter. They’ll take care of all your gear—swim mask, fins, snorkel, mesh bag and a Divers-Down Flag—as well as your saltwater fishing license.
Meet with your Wanderful Concierge Specialist who can make recommendations and reservations for your next scalloping adventure. While you’re there, pick up a souvenir scallop recipe booklet so you can make Florida favorites right from your cottage or RV site.
